No One-Size-Fits-All Shed

The great thing about sheds is that they're not a one-size-fits-all solution, and every client of ours wants something slightly different. This means that the price of your shed will depend on your specific requirements and goals, because every Fair Dinkum shed is custom-designed. From size and shape to colour, roof pitch, and extras, we don't have a set price list. We can tailor our services to your every need without being confined to a payment tier! No matter what your needs and budget, we're here to help you figure it out.

What Affects the Cost of a Shed?

There are plenty of factors that could potentially affect the cost of your shed. From compact storage solutions to large-scale rural workshops, every shed we build at Fair Dinkum is uniquely engineered. Even your location and climate zone can impact the overall design and price. Here are some of the most common factors influencing the cost of your shed:

Size and design

Unsurprisingly, the larger the shed or barn you choose to build, the more materials needed. More materials mean a higher cost, so the bigger the shed you need, the more you're likely to spend. Fair Dinkum works exclusively with steel, so there's no need to worry about choosing a material based on its worth instead of quality.

Roof style and pitch

We value the variety of the range we offer in terms of customisation options, including the roof styles you can pick. Gable vs skillion, steep or flat roofs - they all have a purpose. Each roof comes with a different price point, too, so you can choose the best option for you depending on your budget and needs.

Doors, windows, and access

Our sheds aren't just simple structures with a single door. We offer the opportunity to customise your build with extra personal access doors, roller doors, windows, and extra access points. When building a two-storey shed, we can add an external staircase for more optimised storage space. The choice is yours, but fewer doors and windows will often reduce your final bill.

Site considerations

The more work your site requires, the higher the cost will likely be. For example, if we need to rectify slopes or improve on your property's foundations before building your shed on top, the cost of labour will rise. Similarly, the easier we can access the property, the quicker we can complete your build - reducing the overall labour charge.

Custom features and finishes

Custom features are what make your shed stand out from the rest, but extra features might incur extra costs. For example, an insulated shed will cost more than an uninsulated one. Likewise, if you want added ventilation, you may have to pay extra for the materials and installation. Custom colours may also alter the price of your shed.

Local building requirements

Each territory comes with its own local building requirements that you must adhere to before we begin building your shed. For example, most states will require a building permit for sheds of certain sizes, heights, and locations. Council approval comes at an extra cost, so you need to include this extra fee on top of the price of your shed's build.

From Kit to Complete Build – Your Choice

At Fair Dinkum Builds, one of our main goals is to make our clients' lives as easy as possible - and with our One Stop Shop approach, we think we've achieved that. You can choose how hands-on you want to be, deciding on which kit you want us to send you. Here are the options we offer:

  • Supply only (shed kit)

  • Supply and install

  • Council approvals

  • Concrete slab & site prep

  • Electrical, plumbing & internal fit-out (if needed)

We can simply supply the shed kit for you to install yourself, or handle everything from design to council approval and installation. Installing your shed yourself can save money in labour costs, but it can be more labour-intensive and long-winded than many realise. If you're working on a budget, you can buy your custom shed kit from us. However, if you'd prefer more of a one-stop shop, we can take the weight from your shoulders and let you enjoy the results without the work.

FAQs about shed prices

Why don't you list shed prices on your website?

Our prices are completely dependent on your individual needs, wants, and preferences. There are so many variables that go into the final price of your shed that it'd be impossible to list accurate prices on our website. This means we can design your shed together to fit both your needs and your price range, so you can still achieve your dream shed, no matter what your budget is.

Does my location impact the price of my shed?

Sometimes, your location will impact your final price. For example, if you need extra landscaping or have difficult access to the property, labour costs might increase. Materials costs might also be higher in your area, so some prices might fluctuate depending on your final design.

What if I just want a shed supplied, not installed?

We can deliver a shed-only kit to your property, including everything you need to build your shed yourself. We'll still be on hand to help you design the ideal shed for you, but you'll be able to save some money on labour costs. Plus, this means you'll be able to build your shed in your free time instead of us interrupting your daily schedule.

Do I need council approval?

Most states in Australia will require council approval in one way or another to build a shed on your property. We recommend checking with your local council on the rules and regulations you'll need to adhere to before commencing work on your shed. Council approval requirements could come in the form of planning permission or building permits.
