After purchasing their acreage property, this Tassie family wanted more than just a storage shed. With young children and a passion for rural living, they needed a practical, hard-working space that would support their lifestyle while creating a safe environment for the whole family.
Sticking with Tradition
Drawing on their rural background, the owners wanted a shed capable of housing tractors, machinery and equipment, while also providing dedicated space for the kids' motorbikes. They envisioned a traditional looking shed, making Zincalume the perfect choice.
The result is an impressive 8m x 28m shed with a 2.8m gutter height, designed and built by Fair Dinkum Builds Hobart to handle a wide range of rural machines. Three high-clearance roller doors provide easy access for tractors and machinery with elevated cabs, ensuring equipment can be stored securely and accessed with ease.
“The customer wanted to be able to store machinery and the kids' motorbikes, have a wash bay wanted with the theme of having a traditional zincalume shed," says Paul Purdon from Fair Dinkum Builds Hobart.
Designed for Multiple Uses
A standout feature of the project is the integrated wash bay. Built beneath the same roofline, the former garaport area was converted into a dedicated cleaning station complete with a graded concrete slab and central sump. A high-pressure washer is positioned in the corner, allowing machinery, vehicles and equipment to be washed down efficiently, with water draining away as intended.
The shed also incorporates an open storage area and solar panels, creating a highly functional and future-ready workspace. Blending seamlessly with the surrounding property, this custom build delivers the ideal combination of machinery storage, maintenance space and family-friendly practicality for modern acreage living.
